Boston Premier has had the privilege of performing destination weddings on Nantucket for many years. Celebrating on the island requires careful planning, from ferry transportation and accommodations to equipment logistics and production, and it's an experience our team knows firsthand. Below are some of the real Nantucket weddings we've been part of and the incredible celebrations that brought us back to the island.
One of the most recent weddings we performed at was for Emily and Matthew, a wonderful couple from New York that held their wedding reception at the Nantucket Yacht Club. It was a fantastic time! Performing a wedding on Nantucket is an intricately coordinated venture, so preparations began the day the couple secured the band for their event. The details behind the scenes are essential to highlight for those looking to secure a band as part of their special day on the island.
Once the wedding day arrived, Ceasar (band manager), Jonathan (guitarist), and Nick (sound engineer/DJ) met at the Hyannis port at 8 am with the band's equipment vehicle. We arrived in Nantucket a few hours later and immediately made our way to the yacht club to unload and begin setting up the band's PA system. The remaining band members arrived at 3 pm to finish setting up drums, keyboards, horns, etc. After all of our musicians and vocalists were fully set up and plugged in, the band performed a thorough sound check before any guests arrived at the venue.
At 5 pm, the cocktail hour began in the Anchorage Dining Room. While guests enjoyed tasty drinks and delicious hors d'oeuvres, our trio (guitar, piano, & drums) provided the perfect musical backdrop as they performed a variety of familiar smooth jazz standards and pop favorites that everyone enjoyed.
At 6 pm, Boston Premier began performing tasteful background music in the main ballroom as guests filtered in from the cocktail hour area. As soon as we got the "thumbs up" from Karina, the couple's wedding planner from Magnolia Affairs, we asked the guests to stand and cheer as we formally introduced Emily and Matthew into the ballroom.
Emily and Matt decided to perform their first dance immediately as they made their grand entrance onto the dance floor. Boston Premier prepared a beautiful arrangement of their song, Everlasting Love, for their special moment. Next, we invited Emily's father to join her on the dance floor and played My Wish by Rascal Flats for their special dance. Matt and his mother followed and danced to Summer Wind by Frank Sinatra.
Between the salad course and the main entree, we heard a heartfelt welcome speech from the bride's father. The best man and maid of honor followed up with beautiful toasts of their own.
After dinner, the couple performed a traditional cake-cutting ceremony and then took a moment to thank their guests for joining them and sharing their special day on the island.
After wrapping up the remaining formalities, Boston Premier kicked off the night's second half in grand fashion. As the venue's house lights dimmed, our dance floor lighting came on and lit up the room brilliantly. It was a real treat watching Emily and Matthew surrounded by family and friends, dancing the night away, and having the time of their lives! Boston Premier provided a great mix of dance favorites ranging from Earth Wind and Fire, to The Jackson 5, to modern hits from Dua Lipa and Bruno Mars! It was clear that everyone was just so happy to be celebrating with this special couple. It was a fantastic, non-stop celebration as Boston Premier carried the rest of the evening with great energy and enthusiasm.
