Jaime & John's Amazing Wedding on Block Island.

Jaime, John and their entire party pose for a photo on the porch of the Spring House on Block Island.
One of the most recent weddings we performed at was for Jaime and John, a wonderful couple from New Jersey that held their wedding reception at The Spring House. It was an incredible celebration! Performing a wedding on Block Island is an intricately coordinated venture, so preparations began the day the couple secured the band for their event. The details behind the scenes are essential to highlight for those looking to secure Boston Premier for their special day on the island.

The Planning Begins

When Jaime and John secured Boston Premier for their event, we immediately started working on logistics. The most pressing concern, always, is to secure a reservation for our equipment vehicle on the ferry. As you can imagine, the Block Island Ferry has a limited number of ferries that leave from Point Judith on the weekends. We closely watched the calendar for when tickets became available and quickly reserved our spot on the boat the morning of the wedding. Return tickets from Block Island to Point Judith were also secured for the following day.

Overnight Accommodations

Single-night accommodations on Block Island are hard to find during the on-season. After an exhaustive search online, we were able to secure our musicians' accommodations at The 1661 Inn. Boston Premier has also stayed at Payne's Harbor View Inn during previous engagements on the island. If you are wondering about the number of rooms needed, our six and seven-piece bands require one single and three double occupancy rooms. If you choose our 9-piece band, one single and four double occupancy rooms are needed.

The Start of a Wonderful Day!

On the morning of Jaime and John's special day, Ceasar (band manager), Jonathan (guitarist), and Nick (sound engineer/DJ) met at the Point Judith port at 8 am with the band's equipment vehicle. We arrived on Block Island an hour later and immediately made our way to the Spring House to unload and begin setting up the band's PA system. The remaining band members arrived at 2 pm to finish setting up drums, keyboards, horns, etc. After all of our musicians and vocalists were fully set up and plugged in, the band performed a thorough sound check before any guests arrived at the venue.

The Happy Bride and groom exit from their ceremony on block Island

Their Ceremony.

On a picture-perfect September day, Jaime and John exchanged their vows on the lawn. A wedding on Block Island is an unforgettable experience, and the surroundings of the Spring House Hotel provided a stunning, panoramic backdrop for their ceremony. Although the Spring House is one of the most famous inns on the island, the entire venue was cleared out for them, so it was a completely private event! Our DJ provided soft, elegant music as guests made their way to their seats. He also played Jaime's special song as she walked down the aisle with her father. At the conclusion of the nuptials, everyone stood and cheered as the newlyweds were officially announced as Mr. and Mrs.

Wedding guests enjoy cocktails on the porch of the Spring House Hotel

Cocktails, Anyone?

At 5 pm, the cocktail hour began on the wraparound seaside veranda of the Spring House. While guests were enjoying tasty drinks and delicious hors d'oeuvres, our trio (guitar, piano, & drums) provided the perfect musical backdrop as they performed a variety of familiar smooth jazz standards and pop favorites that everyone enjoyed. Just before everyone headed inside for dinner, they all gathered in front of the house for a group picture.

Dinner Begins!

At 6 pm, guests were ushered into the back terrace for the start of dinner. It was an absolutely beautiful setting - romantic, timeless, elegant, and everything Jaime and John dreamed of! As soon as everyone found their seats, the father of the bride took the mic and formally welcomed everyone to the event. The best man and maid of honor also toasted the bride and groom. Their touching words were the highlight of the moment as everyone listened intently. As the formalities wrapped up, dinner was served!

The Bride and Groom make their grand entrance into the ball room of the Spring House

A Grand Entrance, indeed!

Shortly after 7 pm,  guests were invited to make their way into Victoria's Parlor room for dancing. It had way more of a party feel, a completely different vibe. As we got the "thumbs up" from the function manager, we asked the guests to put their hands together and cheer as we formally introduced Jaime and John into the ballroom.

Jaime and John decided to perform their first dance immediately after they made their grand entrance onto the dance floor. Boston Premier prepared a beautiful arrangement of their song, Don't Stop Believing, for their special moment. Next, we invited Jaime's father to join her on the dance floor and played My Wish by Rascal Flats for their dance. John and his mother followed and danced to Days Like This by Van Morrison.

Let's Get This Party Started!

After wrapping up the remaining formalities, Boston Premier kicked off the night's second half in grand fashion. As the venue's house lights dimmed, our stage lighting came on and lit up the room brilliantly. It was a real treat watching Jaime and John surrounded by family and friends, dancing the night away, and having the time of their lives! Boston Premier Band provided a great mix of dance favorites ranging from Earth Wind and Fire, to The Jackson 5, to modern hits from Dua Lipa and Bruno Mars! It was clear that everyone was just so happy to be celebrating with this special couple. It was a fantastic, non-stop celebration as Boston Premier carried the rest of the evening with great energy and enthusiasm.
